Dear All,
GLTS celebrated Thai Pongal on 18th Jan 2020 at Rickmansworth school with a variety of traditional performance which highlighted our cultural heritage. Members from the local Tamil community showcased their talents through various cultural events such as Pot-breaking, Sillambattam, Karakkatam, Oyillatam, Parai, Bharathanatyam and much more. The evening also marked a traditional Pongal cooking ceremony by filling a new clay pot with milk and fresh rice, then adding ginger, turmeric, brown sugar, cashew nuts, raisins and ghee as it cooks.
The highlight of the show was a captivating and fun filled talk by Nagaisuvai Thendral Mohanasundaram. The event was concluded with a traditional sumptuous South Indian dinner.
We thank all the participants, local Tamil community, volunteers and sponsors for making this event a memorable one.
