The Tamil New Year, known as Puthandu, is the first day of the Chithirai month and marks the beginning of the Tamil calendar. It is an auspicious occasion for celebrating the start of a new year and new possibilities.
Event Date: 17th April 2021, Timings: 02.30pm.
The day is observed as a family time. Households clean up the house, prepare a tray with fruits, flowers and auspicious items, light up the family Puja altar and visit their local temples.
Greater London Tamil Sangam (GLTS) request your esteemed presence on this occasion and join us at the VIRTUAL celebrations of the local Tamil diaspora from various faiths. Date: 17th April 2021, Timings: 02.30pm.
Puthandu is also celebrated by Tamil Hindus outside Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, such as in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius and other countries with Tamil diaspora such as UK, US, Canada and Europe.
